What is the information that I see on the Funding tab about?

When you open the Funding tab on a company application, you can see who are the investors who are interested in investing in that specific company and what is the investment amount they are considering. You can also add your own interest and optionally hide your name and/or estimated investment amount from other deal room members (options to keep your name and amount anonymous from other members might not be available in all deal rooms). Your name and estimated investment amount will always be visible to deal room administrator(s) and the lead investor(s). Setting an interest does not create any obligation to invest.

If a funding round has been created for an opportunity and this funding round has been made private by the round lead or an user who has 'View companies and create funding rounds/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access in the deal room, you can not see the names and indicated investment amounts of other investors. You can only see total amount of indications collected and the name(s) of the lead investor(s). To see other funding round information, you have to request to join it.

Deal room/deal flow administrators (people who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access) and the lead investor(s) can also add deal information, upload related files (term sheet etc) and mark investment interest on other members' behalf.

How to give a deal room member round lead rights for managing funding interests on a specific company application? / How to give a funding round participant round lead rights for managing the funding round?

You can do it when you open the corresponding company application, go to the 'Funding' tab and open the additional actions menu of the funding interest of the member you want to make the round lead.

From the menu, choose 'Edit' and tick the 'Lead investor' checkbox in the dialogue that opens. Click 'Set interest' to save the changes.

How to manage a funding round in the deal room? / How funding rounds work?

A funding round can be created for a company application by a deal room member who has at least 'View companies and create funding rounds' companies access and full activity access or a deal room member who has been set as the round lead in the funding tab of the specific company application. You can also let companies create a funding round while applying to the deal room. For that, go to your deal room 'Settings' -> 'Preferences' -> 'Funnel setup', open the additional actions menu of the corresponding funnel step and choose 'Application link'. You can choose if creating the funding round is optional or required. When company creates the funding round while applying, they will be given funding round lead access.

The following can be configured for each funding round:
Funding round type.
Primary currency.
Round target.
Round status (open/closed).
Role of the company (excluded/observer/round lead) .
Access of your deal room members who are not funding round participants and don’t have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access.
How much information about your deal room members who participate in the funding round is shared with the company (applicable only when the role of the company is ‘Observer’).
How much information about your deal room members who participate in the funding round is shared with other deal rooms that have access to the funding round.

Funding round type, primary currency and target can be configured by the round leads and members of lead deal rooms who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access. Access of deal room members and visibility of information about indicated interests can be configured in each deal room that has joined the funding round separately by members who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access.

If the company has been given the round lead role, they are able to edit the list of funding round participants, their estimated investment amounts, funding round type, status, primary currency, and target as well as edit and delete the funding round documents that have been made visible to them.

If the company's role has been set as observer, they can see the deal room documents that have been made visible to them and can upload documents.

Investors who have access to funding round can see what is visible to the company by clicking on 'Who can see this?' in the right top corner of the Funding tab.

Each funding round has:
A section for storing and sharing funding round documents (also visible in the ‘Documents’ tab of the company application). Funding round files can be optionally shared with the company as well.
Dedicated funding round chat where users who have access to the funding round can have a group conversation with the company (chat is only visible when the company's role is 'Observer' or 'Round lead').
Participant comments section where users who have access to the funding round can discuss the funding round internally as comments are not visible to the company.
An activity log that is visible to the lead investors and deal room members who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access. All the emails sent to funding round participants are visible in the funding round’s activity log. In the activity log, you can also see when someone has indicated, updated or removed their own or other member's funding interest.

It is also possible to add tags to funding interests. Each member can add tags to their own investment interests. Tags can also be added to other members' interests by lead investors and deal room members who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access. Admins can set up a list of funding interest tags for use in the deal room in Settings > Preferences. Tags that are not included in the predefined list can also be added to funding interests.

If private mode has been activated for a funding round, then funding round chat, participant comments and funding round documents are visible only to funding round participants and deal room members with 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access

They can add funding interests on behalf of other investors, update the amounts and tags of added funding interests, remove funding interests, change the visibility of names and amounts of funding round participants to other members and make other participants round leads or remove their round lead status.

If a funding round has not been created yet, the round lead is also able to create a funding round and edit its details.

When a funding round has been created, the round lead can manage funding round documents, view the funding round’s activity log, delete participant comments, send emails to funding round participants, edit the funding round’s details (such as the round type and target, private mode, visibility of funding interests to the company and in other deal rooms and more) and share the funding round to invite more participants.

How to allow companies create a funding round when applying to the deal room?

You can allow companies apply to your deal room with a funding round when you go to Funnel setup and open the application link properties dialogue of the funnel step where you want to allow companies apply with a funding round. In the 'Company can start a funding round' section you can choose whether companies are required to create a funding round, can optionally create a funding round or cannot create a funding round when they're applying to your deal room. Please note that when the funding round is created by the company, the company will have the round lead rights for that funding round.

Can companies see indicated investment interests?

If there is no funding round created for the deal, the company does not see investment interests marked in the deal room. If a funding round has been created, it depends on the funding round settings what the company can see. Funding round settings can be configured by deal room/deal flow administrators (members who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access) of the lead deal room(s) and the round lead(s) of the funding round by using 'Edit details' button in the Funding view. They can choose whether the company can see that the funding round has been created together with the total amount of investment interests that have been indicated. names or names and contact information of investors who have marked investment interest. Company can also be given round lead rights which allows them edit and remove indicated interests. With the round lead rights, company can see all funding information except participant comments. Deal room/deal flow administrators of all deal rooms that participate in the funding round can control how much information about their members who have indicated interest to invest in the funding round is visible to the company.

If the company has at least observer rights in the funding round, they also get a notification every time a funding interest is added, changed or removed.

Investors who have access to funding round can see what is visible to the company by clicking on 'Who can see this?' in the right top corner of the Funding tab.

Can I allow members hide their funding interest from other members?

You can allow your deal room members hide their name from other members when they are marking funding interest on company applications when you tick the 'Allow members to remain anonymous when indicating investment interest' checkbox in your deal room Settings > Preferences > Funding.
You can allow your deal room members hide their estimated investment amount when you tick the 'Allow members hide their interest amount' checkbox in your deal room Settings > Preferences > Funding.

When either of those two options is allowed, members will see additional checkbox(es) in the dialogue where they indicate their interest amount which allow them to correspondingly hide their name or interest amount. Their names and amounts will always be visible to deal room members who have at least full activity access and view companies and create funding rounds companies access and members who have been given the round lead rights for managing the funding interests/funding round on a specific company application.

Why is there a 'Chat with company' option available in the funding tab of some company applications but not all applications?

'Chat with company' option in the funding tab functions as funding round chat and is meant for discussing funding round related topics between the company and funding round participants. Funding round chat is available only on company applications with a funding round where the funding round has been made visible to the company (company's role is 'Observer' or 'Round lead').

Who can see participant comments, funding round documents and funding round chat?

Participant comments, funding round documents and funding round chat are visible to users who have access to the specific funding round. If private mode has been activated for a funding round, only funding round participants and deal room members with 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access can see participant comments, funding round documents and funding round chat in that specific deal room.

How can I get in touch with the funding round participants?

Lead investors of the funding round and members of the lead deal room(s) who have 'View companies and create funding rounds'/'Full edit' companies access and full activity access can send emails to all funding round participants or to a selected funding round participant. That can be done using the 'Send email' button on the Funding tab.

How can I invite people from other deal rooms/outside Dealum to join the funding round?

You can share a funding round with a link. On the link, people can see the company’s public profile and names of the lead investor(s) and the lead deal room(s). Lead deal rooms are deal rooms in which deal room administrators (members who have access to deal room settings) have the same rights in the funding round as the lead investor(s), meaning they can edit the funding round settings.

Everyone who has the funding round link can also join the funding round. You can send this link to an administrator of another deal room (another angel group for example) so they can add it to their deal room and make it visible to their members or share it with a private investor who is or is not using Dealum. If they’re not using Dealum yet, they can still sign up and join the funding round.

Each deal room that has joined the funding round can decide how much information about investment interests indicated in their deal room they share with other deal rooms that participate in the same funding round. They can choose to display only summary (number of investor who have joined the funding round in their deal room and their total estimated investment amount) or also the names or names and contact information of their members who have marked interest.

Can I export a summary of funding interests marked in my deal room by members?

You can export the funding report of your deal room as an Excel when you go to the 'Export / Import' tab in your deal room Settings. This option is available only to deal room members who have full access to deal room settings. In the report, you can see which deal room members have indicated investment interest in which companies and in what amounts.

You can also export only the funding results indicated in companies in a specific funnel step. For that, go to that step and open the actions menu from the top right corner of the funnel and choose 'Export funding results of {step name}'.

Why is there no Funding tab on company applications?

If there is no Funding tab on company applications, it means that your access in the deal room has been limited so that you do not have access to funding information. If you have full rights in the deal room and there is no Funding tab on company applications, then Funding feature is not turned on in your deal room. Please contact our customer support to get Funding activated in your deal room.

How can I get in touch with the investors who have indicated funding interest in a specific company?

You can send an email to an investor who has indicated funding interest in a company when you open their profile by clicking on their profile picture in the interests list in the Funding tab and choosing 'Send email'. This option is available to deal room administrators (members who have full access to deal room settings), investors who have been set as the lead investors, and deal room members who have access to the list of other deal room members

If a funding round has been created for the deal, there's a participants comments section under the Funding tab that is visible to everyone who has access to the specific funding round. Participant comments are not visible to the company.
