Import company updates by upload and email

Monitor portfolio company performance with Investor Plus

Investor Plus offers a fast and convenient way to monitor how your portfolio companies are performing by automatically summarizing investor updates and reports received outside the Dealum platform.

The AI Assistant functionality extracts key metrics and highlights from uploaded documents - and when the file is uploaded directly (rather than forwarded by email), it also applies colour coded risk scoring flags. All AI reporting can be manually edited and enhanced.

The AI-generated summaries and full reports are available and editable in several locations. The Updates sections of the Portfolio shows a short summary list of all company updates, with the most recently uploaded report listed first:

The Updates sections of the Dashboard also shows the same short summary list of all company updates, with the most recently uploaded report listed first:

In both cases, the original report document can be viewed by clicking on the document name. View more takes you to the specific portfolio company's Reporting tab in the Portfolio section - there you will find detailed company level KPIs and full reporting, as well as historical trends, if two or more reports have been uploaded.

Single company specific AI update summaries and full reporting are available and editable in the respective company’s Updates and Reporting sections of the Portfolio. To access these, click on the specific Company name from the list of Investments displayed on the Portfolio overview page:

Select either the Updates or Reporting tabs to view, add or edit the summary updates or full reporting for the respective portfolio company:

Adding investor update reports to Investor Plus - the basics

There are two basic ways to import investor reports for a portfolio company:

  1. Import from file – upload a report document directly for AI processing
  2. Send via email – generate a dedicated email address and forward reports from your mailbox to that address

You can upload both historic and ongoing reports by either file upload or email. Supported formats include PDF, Excel, images, and plain text (up to 24 MB). Please do not mix reports from different time periods in the same upload or email.

Uploaded or emailed reports are automatically processed by the AI assistant, and extracted data is used to populate a summarized update and a full report. If necessary, you can manually edit, delete or supplement the extracted reporting information.

The fastest and most accurate way to add investor update reports is by uploading them directly, as it can sometimes take a few minutes for emails to reach our servers. We also are able to apply additional AI scoring and colour-coded flagging processes to directly uploaded PDF files.

How to add company updates into Investor Plus

You can import investor update and company report files directly from the Dashboard and Portfolio.

On the Dashboard, company update reports can be directly uploaded from both the Getting Started and Update sections.

Clicking the Import company reporting button from either the Getting Started or Updates section opens a list of companies that have been added to the Investor Plus portfolio, and beside each portfolio company name is the option to upload or email an update. You need to add at least one portfolio company investment to Investor Plus before you can add a corresponding investor update.

To upload a file directly from your device, click the left hand arrow icon and select your chosen file. To access the company specific email address, for forwarding or sharing, click on the mail icon.

The first time you click this link, you will be asked to click to Create email address. On all subsequent visits, you will be presented with that portfolio company’s unique email address, which you can copy and paste by clicking the Copy button on the left or share using your device programs by clicking the Share icon on the right (three connected dots). When forwarding from your mailbox it will take a few minutes for the email to reach Dealum and you may need to refresh the page to see the result.

In the Portfolio, you can import reports from both the Updates and Reporting tabs of the corresponding portfolio company page. You can upload both historic and ongoing reports by file upload or email. Supported formats include PDF, Excel, images, and plain text (up to 24 MB).

Click on the Company name from the list of investments displayed on the Portfolio overview page.

Click the Updates tab of the chosen company and the select Import from file to add an investor update or company report:

Click Add files, select the chosen files from your device and click Import report to upload them. Please do not mix report files from different time periods in the same upload.

The AI Assistant functionality extracts key metrics and highlights from the uploaded documents - and when a PDF file is uploaded directly (rather than forwarded by email), it also applies colour coded risk scoring flags.

The same import report functionality can be accessed from the portfolio company’s Reporting tab and works exactly the same way.

Exploring and editing updates

Updates tab

An AI Assisted summary of the imported report will appear on the Updates tab for the respective portfolio company - for example the November 2025 report shown below - and in the Updates section of the Dashboard.

The report summary in Updates can be deleted or fully edited by clicking the three dots icon on the top right of the update. You can click on the document name to see the original uploaded document. It is also possible to add a comment to the update, for example to note your intended follow-up actions. Click on the comment button to add a new comment or view previously posted comments.

The full reporting can be accessed by clicking View more, which takes you to the Reporting tab of the respective portfolio company. There you will also find selected (and editable) KPIs and full reporting questions, as well as historical trends, if two or more reports have been uploaded.

On the Update tab you have the option to add manual updates, such as the January 2026 example shown below. Simply click New update and type in your text. You can edit or delete the manual update by clicking the three dots icon. Text can be formatted and documents, images and video links can be added. These manual updates will also appear on your Dashboard summaries list, but not in the Reporting tab.

Reporting tab

The fully extracted investor update report appears in the Reporting tab of the respective portfolio company. You will also find pre-selected and editable KPIs and reporting questions, as well as graphics of historical trends, if two or more reports have been uploaded.

The forward and back arrows at the top right of the Reporting section let you move backward and forward through reports from different time periods. The pencil icon on the far right allows you to edit any text or metric field in the currently displayed report - for example following a briefing or email discussion:

As well as the default metrics and reporting questions already displayed in the Reporting tab, you may choose to add additional KPIs and reporting questions, allowing you to customize the metrics set you apply across your whole portfolio.

The wheel icon has advanced functionality that allows you to edit the default reporting criteria and select which specific KPIs and reporting questions you want displayed on this tab. It can also be accessed from Settings > Preferences > Reporting.

This edit operates at Portfolio level and will apply to the displayed reporting structure for future, current and historic reporting of all portfolio companies, however only future reporting will have the new metrics auto-completed. You may choose to delete historic reports from the Upload tab, and upload them again, if you make significant changes to the reporting KPIs and questions that you want displayed.
