Managing funds in Portfolio
Funds feature allows you to manage funds and their investments in companies in your deal room’s Portfolio. It is useful when you manage a fund and a group of angels who can invest in companies also directly alongside the fund or just manage multiple funds and want to show investors their participation in the fund's investments.
This feature is available as an add-on. Please contact your account manager or Dealum support for pricing information and adding it to your subscription.
How to add a fund to Portfolio?
How to add a fund to a funding round?
How to add the fund’s investment to a round in Portfolio and what is shown to the investors of the fund?
Navigate to the Portfolio page
Open the Funds tab
Click on “Add fund”
Add the fund name and optionally the status and description
Add investors who invested who have put money in the fund and their amounts
Adding information about investors and amounts they invested in the fund will allow your team and those investors* see what is their indirect investment in each company the fund invested in.
*This is applicable when the investor has portfolio access.
Any users with the round lead rights and access to the fund can add the fund to ongoing funding rounds. A member is considered to have access to the fund if their access permissions allow them to see the fund in Portfolio. For example, if they had “view own investments” access to Portfolio, they would see only those funds they have invested in but if they had “view own investments and all companies” or higher access to portfolio, they would see all funds in Portfolio.
To add the fund to a round:
Click on “Add interest” in the funding tab of a company application
Start typing in the fund name
Select the fund from suggestions
Add the investment amount (optional)
Configure the visibility of the funding interest (optional)
Decide if the fund has the round lead rights
Add tags if needed
Click on “Set interest”
If you add the fund to a private funding round, then all members who are investors in the fund will get access to the private funding round.
If you make the fund a round lead, all fund admins will get the round lead rights for the specific funding round. Fund admins are defined as users who have full edit access to Portfolio in the deal room.
When you managed the funding round the fund participated in on the related application and add it to the portfolio together with funding interests marked on the application, then the fund’s investment will automatically be added to the portfolio round as well.
If you want to add this data directly to portfolio, you can do it the same way as you would add a member investment.
If the fund’s investment is added to a round in Portfolio, members who are investors in the fund will see their indirect investment in the company according to their share in the fund. For example, if an investor invested 100k in a 1M fund and that fund invested 200k in a company, the investor would see their indirect investment in that company as 20k.
