Application view

This article explains the things you can see and features you can use when you open an application you have submitted from your Applications page. Please note that some of the listed tabs might not appear on each application if there is nothing to display in some of them.

Application status

The status of your application is shown next to the deal room name and it can take the following values.

  • Inbox means the application has been submitted to the deal room, but has not been moved to the next step. It's likely it has not been reviewed yet or is still pending a decision.
  • Active means the application has left the inbox and is being moved through the deal room process.
  • On hold means the application has been put into a "watchlist", likely with the intent to return to it at a later time.
  • Complete means the deal room has finished its processes regarding your application. If you do not know the outcome, please contact the deal room directly.
  • Archived means the deal room has archived your application. Declined applications typically get archived, but deal rooms may archive applications also for other reasons. If you are uncertain about the outcome of your application, please contact the deal room directly for clarification.
  • To be deleted means that the deal room has moved your application to a deleted applications folder and your application will be permanently removed from the deal room after it has spent 30 days in that folder. You or the deal room can also permanently remove the application sooner. If you need more information on why your application has been deleted, please contact the deal room directly.
  • Changes locked means the deal room has locked your application to any changes. If you've been asked to update an application with this status, please contact the deal room and ask them to unlock your application.
  • Revoked means you have revoked the deal room access to future updates to your reporting data and company profile.

These statuses are only a tool for you to better understand what's happening to your application. They do not replace direct communication and updates from the deal room. If you have any questions regarding your application, please use the Application discussion to contact the deal room you've applied to.

"Update" button

Updating your application

To update the information in your chosen application, follow these steps:

  • Go to Home page
  • Click on chosen company
  • Applications page is opened
  • Find the application you wish to update
  • Click on the application
  • The detailed application view is opened
  • Click on "Update"
  • The application editing view is opened
  • Make your changes (you will have to go through all the sections)
  • Click "Complete" at the end
  • Click "Open company" to go back to your Applications page

We recommend to notify the corresponding deal room (organization) about the changes in your application to make sure that they will check your up-to-date data.

Why is there no "Update" button under my application?

The "Update" button is not available when

  1. The deal room has locked your application for changes (application status is "Changes locked")
  • This means the deal room has locked your application to any changes.
  • If you've been asked to update an application with this status, please contact the deal room and ask them to unlock your application.

Please note that when your application is in status "Archived", but has no "Update information" button, then your application has been locked for changes AND archived.

  1. You have revoked access right from the deal room (application status is "Revoked")
  • This means you've taken the right to see updates from the deal room
  • Once access is revoked from a deal room, they will no longer see any updates to your company - including both company profile and reporting updates.

Actions menu (three dots)

Change access

This action allows you to

  • revoke deal room's access, or
  • upgrade their access to your data (e.g. grant them access to your reporting data)

You can learn more about revoking access here and about reporting here.

Hide application from list

If your Applications view starts getting crowded and you want to do a cleanup, you can hide applications that are no longer relevant, such as applications deal rooms have archived. That makes keeping an eye on active applications easier.

To hide an application:

  • Open your company’s Applications view
  • Locate the application you want to hide
  • Click on the application to open it
  • Click on the button with three dots in the top right corner of the view
  • Choose “Hide application from list”

If you want to make hidden applications visible again on your Applications page, click on the three dots in the top right corner of the page and choose “Show hidden”.

Overview tab

The deal room card on the left allows you to view the profile of the organization you have applied to where you can find more information about their background and investment interests.

You might see the following second level tabs in the overview tab.

Discussions

The following discussions can be available in the discussions tab

  1. Application discussion

This is likely to be your main way to communicate with the deal room. You can write messages in Application discussion and get replies from the deal room.

Application discussion will only be accessible to you, and the deal room you applied to.

Nobody without access to the application can see the Application discussion, so the Application discussion is visible to:

  • Your company team members
  • The deal room's members who have access to your application and right to communicate with companies

  1. Data room discussion

If the deal room is using data room, you can also find data room discussion from the Discussions tab. This is a discussion between your company team members and deal room members who have been given access to the data room on your application (usually a small limited group of people). It is mainly used for discussing documents you are asked to upload or have uploaded to the data room.

  1. Custom discussions

If the deal room has created any custom discussion threads between your company and selected deal room members, those will also appear in the Discussions tab and have custom names the deal room has given them.

Feed

Feed tab is available when the organization you have applied to is using the founder hub feature that allows them to post announcements and other information for their applicants and they have given you access to their feed. Posts may also have attachments.

When the deal room has given you necessary permission, you are also able to interact with their updates by liking and commenting.

Forum

If the deal room has given you access to their forum, you will have the forum tab visible in the Overview tab. There you will see and be able to join discussions started by the deal room and other applicants of the same deal room who have been given access to the forum by the deal room.

You can also start discussions yourself and they will be visible to the same audience:

  • deal room members who manage applications in the deal room, and
  • deal room's applicant companies with access to the forum

If you wish to communicate only with the deal room, without other companies seeing the messages, use the Application discussion instead.

Documents

The company application view has a documents tab, where documents shared by the deal room appear. You might find different types of documents there.

  1. Application documents are documents that are added to your application by the deal room.

  1. If the deal room has created a data room and shared it with you, then both the deal room and the company can share documents in the data room and those documents will be available in the Data room documents section.

  1. Documents shared by the deal room with a wider group of their applicants will be available in the Deal room documents section.

Details tab

You can view information you have submitted to the deal room in application in the Details tab. This is also how your information looks like to the deal room.

Data room tab

What is "Data room" on my application?

Data room is a dedicated space where deal rooms can manage due diligence and other similar documents and discuss the given process and documents with the company.

Only deal room admins and selected members with access to the data room will be able to see the documents in there.

How do I add files to Data room?

To add files to Data room, please follow these steps:

  • Go to your Applications page
  • Find the application
  • Click on the application
  • Find the "Data room" section
  • Choose to upload a file or add a link
  • When uploading a file, you can also create a folder or choose to add the file to an existing folder by clicking three dots on the right of the folder

You can also upload folders by dragging and dropping them to the data room section. Alternatively, when you hold down your control (Windows) or command (Mac) key, the Upload file button will turn into Upload folder button which allows you to upload folders containing subfolders and documents.

After you've uploaded a file to Data room, you can't edit or delete the file. If you need the file deleted, please contact the deal room via data room discussion.

Can I see all the files contained in Data room documents?

You will only see documents the deal room has given you access to. If a deal room has informed you of a document they've uploaded and you cannot see that file in the list, please remind the deal room to give you access to that document.

Funding tab

Funding tab contains a shortcut to the funding round associated with the application (if applicable).

A funding round can get connected to the application when:

  • The deal room asked you to create a funding round in the application process
  • You created and shared a funding round with the deal room and they joined it
  • The deal room has created a funding round on your application and made it visible to you

You can learn more about funding rounds from this article.

Events tab

In this tab you can see events the deal room has invited you to. When you click on the event name, you can RSVP or change your response (including leaving a note to organizer), view the event description and details, such as time, location, agenda, and similar.

Notifications tab

If you have any unread notifications related to the specific application, you can find them in the Notifications tab,
